On July 15th, Fey Publishing will be participating in an online Pitch Party using the hashtag #Pit2Pub. This submission category is ONLY for those manuscripts we requested via this PitchParty. Any others will NOT get read, please submit those via our other categories (read more at www.feypublishing.com/submissions).

Some of our editors have requested you send your submissions to them directly, and that's fine. But if they didn't give you any specific directions or you're confused, you may submit here and it will get sent to the correct editor regardless.
Young Fey is our newest brand for our younger readers (or for those just young at heart). While we are looking for Young Adult and Middle-Grade books, children's picture books or books for those under the age of 10-12 will not be considered because that's not our wheelhouse. We want books both young and old can enjoy.

We'd love to see more YA books without romance as a focus, or if there is romance, we'd prefer it to be nontraditional and not the focus of the story. We want strong characters, characters that teens can look up to. We'd love to find more stories with friendship, not just romance, as the focus. We also prefer YA books with science fiction and fantasy elements, but it's not required.

YA stories can feature darker stories and introduce some adult concepts within reason (issues that the age range may experience as they grow up). Middle-grade stories should be age appropriate.

Manuscripts featuring LGBT and non-white characters are especially interesting to us.

Manuscripts may be slightly shorter than the general requirements, but we still like to see full-length novels opposed to novellas.

We are currently looking for submissions for our Dark Fey brand. Day Fey encompasses stories within the horror, science fiction, fantasy and speculative fiction genres that are darker than your average tale. In fact, the darker, the better.

If your story is said to be too dark for traditional publishers, Dark Fey is interested in taking a look. Have you heard that killing off main characters is a no-no? Think again. Tired of hearing about readers wanting happily ever afters, yet don't want to change your story to appease the publishers? You won't have to here. Happily ever afters are fine as long as they make sense, but we don't require it. We appreciate a writer who can kill their darlings when the story calls for it. We want to frighten, disturb and make our readers feel something with your work.

While the story doesn't have to be scary in nature, darker themes are what this brand is about. While we prefer stories with an otherworldy element, it's by no means required.

Submission Requirements:

We are looking for full-length and completed manuscripts only. No short story collections, just novels. We ask that they be at least 50,000 words in length, no novellas please. There is no maximum length, however, books that go over 100,000 will have to be exceptional to be considered. We will accept series, but ask that the series be completed or be near completed before submission.

We are not accepting nonfiction, short story collections, novellas, poetry, or fan fiction. Erotic horror will be considered, but there must be a story other than the sex. Pure romance is not a good fit for this brand, but romance may appear in stories as long as the main plot isn't romantic in nature. If it would be classified as romance, it won't be a good fit for this brand (but keep checking back as other brands may be open for romance soon).

How to Submit:

Please submit only via the Submittable link. E-mailed submissions will not get read and we may not be able to respond to you.

Submit your entire manuscript with a cover letter and short synopsis (no more than three pages, please).

We will respond to all submissions, however, depending on the amount of submissions we receive, it may take us some time. If it's been longer than three months, you may inquire about your submission by contacting kristen@fypublishing.com. But please do not contact us before that time as it takes time away from reading and editing. We will respond either way, whether we accept or deny, just give us some time.

Please make sure you add kristen@feypublishing.com to your safe senders list so our e-mail doesn't go into your spam filter.

Simultaneous submissions are fine, but please let us know if they're accepted elsewhere. Multiple submissions are also fine, we just ask that you limit your submissions to no more than three at one time. We read all submissions in the order they're received, and can make no exceptions for this.

That being said, we look forward to reading your work! Remember, no previous publishing credits are needed, we work with authors both new and experienced alike. We look for a good story first and foremost, and our goal is to bring new talent to light.
Classic Fey encompasses stories of a lighter persuasion than our Dark Fey brand, and currently, they're among the first books published by Fey. It's been some time since we've put anything out under this brand, but that's about to change.

Under a limited scope, we are going to be looking for books that would fall under the Classic Fey brand. Currently, we'd like to open submissions for the following types of works:

1) Historical/Alternative fiction - We aren't looking for just any historical fiction novel, we are looking for stories similar to The Borgias (the TV show). There should be murder, conspiracy, and yes, even romance and sex. While alternative timelines are allowed, they must be done well and within reason.  Stories we're most interested would feature the following historical events  - The French Revolution, the various ruling dynasties within Europe, and the ancient Greek, Roman and Viking times. We are also potentially interested in novels that take place during WWI and WWII.  Stories featuring nontraditional romances are also considered as long as they're within a historic context. Which brings us to our next category...

2) Nontraditional romances - We aren't looking for the next big love triangle or book boyfriend, we want stories that pack a punch. Happily ever afters are optional (but not required), and strong characters are a must. Honestly, we aren't looking for romance so much as we're looking for a great story that just so happens to have a romantic element mixed in. No hardcore erotica, though sex can be present if it's done well and necessary for the story. Novels featuring LGBT characters are especially interesting to us.

3) Powerful, life-changing stories - These are stories with a purpose or a higher meaning. Think of Messiah of the Slums, published by us last year, as an example. These are books that touch people and compel them to action. We are primarily a fiction publisher, so please keep this in mind. We may consider creative nonfiction if it's about a compelling event in history or the news, but biographies and personal memoirs are not a good fit for us and will not be considered.

4) Science fiction, fantasy and speculative iction novels that don't fall within the Dark Fey brand. These can be lighter stories, more conventional fantasy and science fiction. Pretty much anything with an otherworldly element will be considered. Nontraditional heroes and heroines are always a plus for us in any of the stories we publish.

Submission Requirements:

We are looking for full-length and completed manuscripts only. No short story collections, just novels. We ask that they be at least 50,000 words in length, no novellas please. We will accept series, but ask that the series be completed or be near completed before submission.

We are not accepting nonfiction, short story collections, novellas, poetry, or fan fiction. Erotic horror will be considered under Dark Fey only, but there must be a story other than the sex.
